Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen.

The stars are aligning to get me to SEW and sew for MYSELF!
Okay, maybe not actual stars - but two things in my life:
- First, of course, is my new wardrobe - I am feeling inspired and excited to add pieces of my own!
- Second, I have joined my first ever sew-along.
Alethia is hosting a "Stash Smashing" sew-along on her site Sew Much Talent. Given that I helped her kick it off with a chat about the Original "How Much Fabric?" Reference cards, I thought it would be fun to join in...
Plus, it seems like a pretty easy one - it's only a 1 month commitment to refrain from buying fabric and sew from your stash. ;)
The most difficult part might be figuring out where to start! I have these 3 fabrics that I would like to use for skirts:
The fabric on the right is a bit gauzy. It will have to be lined and I'm imaging it made up as something like one of these 2 patterns:
or
The other two are standard cottons. I'm imagining the grey (on the far left) as an A-Line skirt - maybe like this pattern:
Finally, for the middle print (with pink flowers), I'm imagining something more full - maybe pleated or gathered, like one of these 2 patterns:
or
But I do have 2 other skirt patterns that I like - maybe one of them would work for one of those 3 fabrics?
or
Any thoughts? Which of these patterns would you use for each of the 3 fabrics?
I'm hoping to start (and maybe even finish!) a skirt this weekend! :)
I hope you have a great sewing weekend! :)
Wow, didn't know this was your first sew-a-long, glad to be able to be apart of your first experience, woo-hoo!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think your plans are great ideas, so go with that.
Thanks, Alethia! :) I think that first up will be the grey A-line skirt... I can't wait to start! :)
