The Defense Rests

Well, the Valentine's Day shirt for my husband is complete and the verdict is in.  First, some shots for you to decide what you think:  

Here it is being modeled in the un-tucked-in, typical Hawaiian shirt fashion:  


(I'm just now noticing that the two fronts aren't even at the bottom - sigh...)

And here it is being worn like a dress shirt - tucked in:

He likes the shirt a lot, but... not as a casual shirt.  For his weekend wear, he prefers the old pattern.  I may need to continue searching for a new TNT Hawaiian shirt pattern...  But I feel pretty sure that I'll be making this pattern for him again!    ;)

    He looks great in it but I agree, it looks a bit more fitted where as the older pattern was a bit more relaxed looking.

    Hi Gwen, this is your old high school roommate, Ruth. The shirt looks great. It has been years since I sewed a men's shirt but when I did I preferred the more constructed- in other words, more complicated- patterns. How did you resist the compulsion to try and match the outlines of the map in the front?

      Hi Ruth! It's so nice to hear from you! I love the pictures that Philip periodically puts up on FB of his restoration work at the museum. :)

      Normally I do try to match the fronts of his print shirts, but in this case I didn't have enough fabric. The best I could do was match the pocket. ;)

      Luckily, he doesn't care at all about matching...
